"Dios sabe hacer Su vaina"
Quote, end quote. Haha, that's what this young guy said to us as we were taking him with us to appointments. It's very slang, maybe even a somewhat inappropriate way of saying that God knows what He's doing at all times. Latins use the word vaina for like "thing", it's funny, because it actually means "sheath" like for a sword or something.
In this past week, I was filling orders for my temple watches; the demand is getting pretty high. I could honestly make a business out of this silly toy. I buy the watch for 2 bucks and sell them for like $5, and I could make a decent profit because almost all of the young men and young women want them. They had their Stake Youth Conference this past weekend and a lady asked me to make 4 of them to hand out as prizes for some dance contest they did and I made the 4 in like a half hour. Quicker work means quicker money! :) Maybe I'll be a business major, but I think the fact that I want to pursue marketing is helping me out in this little business. It's such a simple little thing but people really like it, and it could be even cooler back home printing out whatever picture you wanted, like ones with the San Diego Temple instead of the Panama Temple, or lo que sea, something personalized. We'll see :P
Speaking of that youth conference, it was funny to see how many youth showed up. If I'm not mistaken, I remember hundreds of youth going to those things back home, like 200 or 300 people. My comp looks in at a group of like 50 people and says "woah, lots of people showed up!" haha, and I had just said how tiny I thought it was. Activities get a lot more attention back home, a lot more preparation to make everything turn out really well. I appreciate all the time that the leaders back home put in to making these activities big for all of the teens, because I know it can't be easy or cheap to do so. So all of you that I never thanked... thank you very much, I really enjoyed Youth Conference back home, even being as stubborn as I was, it made the difference.
The Young Women Stake leader invited us to do a "missionary MTC mini boot camp" type activity the next morning on Saturday, in which we were going to teach them a bit, do practice lessons, and take them to go contacting real people in the park. It all turned out well actually, we did some mini lessons in which a companionship of guys and girls had to contact a house, get in, and try to get to know the people there and teach a principle in 5 minutes. Naturally they had no idea what to do and they did pretty terribly, but everyone laughed and had a great time. They learned bit by bit how they were supposed to do so, and they improved. Then we all split up and I had two young men teach me about the Book of Mormon and they did a remarkably good job, I was surprised. I told them that if I had been so confident like that when I was their age, I would've been a lot more prepared for the mission when that day would've come.
The youth around the world are preparing quicker and quicker these days, and I know that they will become great missionary legends. I shared that in my testimony yesterday, and it really impacted me. Parents, be good examples for your kids in all times and in all places, because they are always observing you. If there is one thing that I can tell all you parents back home to help your kids is to bear your testimony to them frequently, because I know firsthand that it helps. My Mom was never a person to bear her testimony much in public, but she shared with me her testimony by her example as a wonderful mom. I know the standards of the Gospel just merely by watching and learning from her example, same with my dad and stepdad. Be examples for your kids. Of course they won't want to study the scriptures together, but force them, it will be a huge blessing in the future.
We have a baptism coming up this week, Chacho's little sister, and we're gonna get him baptize her, that's going to be so amazing. baptizing one guy so he can in return baptize his own family. Wow, I'm looking forward to that. Everything is going really well here, we had new people in church yesterday that we'll be teaching this week, people that just showed up. The month of fasting has begun and the blessings are already coming.
Scriptures for ya'll are D&C 132:19-20, because I'm trunk and thinking about eternal marriage :) And lastly we have Helaman 16:4 which is what I hope people think of me as a missionary, preaching, baptized, prophesing, etc. I love you all so much
