AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha that is how I will begin this email, what a crazy last week I have had. Let me inform you of my cambios, I did move woo! But before I tell you where, let me also say that Elder Aguilar also left my area, after being there only one change, it was super weird. We got the call at like 10:30 pm. the night before changes telling us that we had to go and we were leaving, so we had the pleasure of being up till like 2:30 am. packing our bags to get out of San Mig. They really should inform us earlier, but they don't want people to think that since they have changes that they won't work for the last bit of time until that Wednesday, so they choose to wait till the last second possible to inform you. Alright so both of us leave San Mig, which means that 2 new people are coming to the area, which is so dumb cuz there should be at least one elder there who already knows the members and all, the area, but now they get to be lost everywhere they go! But here is the reason why they did it, they are turning my old area into a zone, and new ZLs are going to be living in our old house! Crazy, so I know one of the new ZLs that will be there and I just told him to take care of our investigators, because it was quite sad to say goodbye to them, never had to do that before, and I really loved our investigators, especially our fiel 4.
So where did Elder Kniff go to???? Well, for some bizarre, bizarre reason I did get changes...but I stayed in the same zone. What?! Still in La Zona de Panamá, but now I'm in an area called Veracruz, which is like the farthest area away that is still considered part of out Panama Zone with the elders in the office and the Pres. I was so confused, and everyone was laughing at me saying that I'm gonna be in the Panama Zone for 6 months of my mission haha, so strange. I like our zone and all, but it would've been nice to go somewhere else. People were passing around of list of where people were going, and I assumed David, which is super far away, but alas, no, I stayed here in Panama.
But this new area is seriously sweet. And what's funny is since I'm staying in the same zone, I already knew my comp from pdays and district meetings together all the time. He's a gringo named Elder Bradford from Ogden, Utah. So weird these changes, but I love the area it's super pretty. To get to it you have to cross El Puente de las Americas which is over the canal. so I've seen the canal from above on the bridge a few times and it's gorgeous.
The area is also right next to a ton of beaches, so it is waaaay prettier than San Mig, alot more open, almost no hills that we climb, and also best of all, FILLED with Kunas, haha. Seriously I've never seen so many Kunas in my life, and they are like serious Kunas that wear all the bracelets and garb and all, it's sweet. And that means that there are tons of people here to make me gorgeous mola ties, which I shall send as gifts to some of you probably. There is a lady named Hermana Flor who makes them, and super fast too, even though you need a ton of patience. I've drawn her a design that she is going to make into a mola tie for me, and what I'm working on right now is I'm actually drawing a Kuna on a mola tie, that she shall make for me. So a Kuna who makes a mola tie, of a Kuna on the mola tie, its like INCEPTION!!! or TIECEPTION!!!!!! hahaha I'm such a dork!
The house isn't too bad either, only problem is that a big pipe in Panamá burst recently, so we have like no water all the time. Which means that in the last few days I've taken 3 bucket showers haha, and let me tell you, a nice cold shower with full pressure certainly changes your attitude for the day.
I'm certainly excited for this area though, seems like they have quite a few baptisms here, but the problem is how many people are inactive here, it's a ton. So were working with reactivating people. We just have a Branch, rama, here of only like 35 people who show up, so it's so tiny. Never been to church with so few people. But the people who all come are happy to be there and apparently come every week, so it's just working with the others who still don't come.
One of the little bendiciones that our house has is a panaderá right next to it, where they make fresh bread every morning, hot and delicious, and we eat that for breakfast like every day and it's cheap and wonderful, with butter that I buy there too it's like a 50 cent breakfast.
Good week this past week, it's just getting used to the area and all and working with a gringo haha. It's so weird teaching with a gringo, he's been out for 9 months. As of today everyone, I have been out for 5 months, woo! Really has passed by insanely fast, especially this past month. sheez.
I found a great quote this week that I want to share with you all. It's a quote from Jospeh Smith that says, "After all that has been said and done, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the gospel". I have to agree with the prophet of the Restauración, because seriously if there weren't missionaries, or people to share the gospel with one another, the membership of the church wouldn't grow at all, and we wouldn't be fulfilling our purpose as Latter-Day Saints.
I love mission work, really is no way to describe exactly what mission work is like, the thoughts that go through my head everyday, the people I meet, the people whom I share the gospel with, in Spanish, it's nuts, really that's how I will describe my mission so far: La obra misional es loca pero más divertida que cualquier otra cosa que yo he hecho antes, inolvidable.
Thank you all for your support, prayers and everything, really means the world to me that you are there to support me. Two more scriptures for ya'll this week, D&C 98:13 which is sweet, about laying down your life to defend the Lord, and also D&C 100:1, saying that you all are in good hands while I'm gone :)
Love you all, have a wonderful week, ¡escudriñen las excrituras!
