Hola Mi Amorosa Familia!
Haha well that was a bit of inspiration for all ya´ll back home, and I hope you take the time to translate it. First off I want to thank you all for the letters, I got like 5 last week. 2 from my mom which was really great, glad everyone is doing well. It was really sweet hearing from you. I hope that you are all diligently following the blog and learning of my adventuras panameñas haha.
This week as you all know we had Elder Russell M Nelson come and talk to us which was really amazing. I got to shake his hand, woot! He reminds me of Papa actually, haha, kinda looks like him :) Anyway, the actual conferencia consisted of like 120 elders and sisters within the Panamá area. So it was at Chitré, a city off to the West a bit. We all met in a church building right next to the temple, really nice A/C, haha. Anyway, first we had a talk by an area 70 for Central America and he gave us what they call El Machete, haha which just means this is what we need to do to improve haha, swish and slash of the machete. He said remember the story of Lehi's family; Laman, Lemuel, Nephi and Sam. 2 groups of people there. Laman and Lemuel and Sam and Nephi, como misioneros. 1 group obeyed always what the Lord commanded them to do and did it without complaining. And the other constantly murmored as you all know. So what type of companionship do we want to be? Pretty cool comparison I had never thought of, because Laman and Lemuel where there through it all too, suffered alot, but did it with horrible attitudes and tried to kill their brother.
Elder Nelson talked alot about teaching English to native companions and vice versa, so I hope I have more latin comps that I can teach English too, cuz Jarquin was at the end of his mission and didn't really care to learn English, haha. But I'm sure I'll get that opportunity más adelante. It was a really good conference, we weren't allowed to bring cameras though, but we took a picture of all of us elders and sisters with him there when he came. So I'm hoping that President Ward prints them off for us cuz I want that picture.
Ok now I'm gonna talk about the prices of stuff here, super cheap. Last week I bought a pair of pants for like 9 bucks, really nice pair of jeans that would be like 50 bucks in the states, and things are just pretty dang cheap here, I also bought 2 ties for 5 bucks haha. This past Saturday we had a baptism of little Lia age 9, and that was really cool, I'll send pictures soon of that. And it's really cool to think someday I could come back to Panama and find out she's served a mission, like me, cuz it's crazy; in Central America like tons and tons of girls serve missions. Like almost as much as the guys, really
cool, I think.
We have cambios this week, getting 20 Latinos and 4 gringos from the US haha, way outnumbered this time. So alot of people are going to be training Latins this next change. But I know we're getting a gringo in our zone, and I actually talked to them back in the MTC. I wonder if they'll remember me. It's gonna be crazy getting a new companion and having to explain the area. I hope I know it well enough to show him where the investigators´ houses are. We'll probably get lost a few times, haha. But that's all part of the missionary life!
Good week this week, and next time we talk I'll have a new comp with me, I'll find out this Wednesday at cambios, wish me luck!
I have a good scripture about missionary work, from the New Testament, cuz I'm breezing through it, Philippians 1:27, check it out.
Love you all, have a wonderful week. Next week I'll talk about these indigenous people here in Panama called the Cunas or Kunas, look 'em up and I'll describe them next week!
