Hola Mi Amorosa Familia,
This week has been pretty good, but not really too eventful unfortunately, haha. But the week's are certainly flying by here. I've already been here for more than a month and almost completing my first transfer, and it feels like I got here a week ago.
This week is Jarquin's last week, last full week, so at the end of this week we're gonna visit some of his old districts and eat with old families. Like 20 dinners some days haha.
Yesterday was good, had a ton of investigators at church, like 6 people. It's so funny how Mormon Standard Time is not a geographical thing, it's worldwide in the church! At 9 o'clock when church starts, almost nobody is there, but by 9:30 there's like 140 people. Oh funny story about church yesterday, we elders have a class the 2nd hour for recent converts, investigators, and just like random people. And it was like Elder Kniff's turn to teach haha! And it actually went pretty well, I didn't struggle at all speaking in Spanish really and taught for like 30 minutes straight. Lesson about how important daily scripture study is in our gospel knowledge development.
Today is Elder Jarquin's birthday, big 23, and he's not really jazzed at all. He just keeps saying "chuso, soy viejo" haha. I'll probably buy him a dulce or something and we'll celebrate tonight.
So we're having a baptism this Saturday, think I already told you all. Funny story about our investigators and baptisms, there all little girls that are like 9 or 10 years old. The parents or relatives will come up to us in church and say basically "We have a daughter, she's 9 years old, and we want her to be baptized" haha. So we just go and bam bam bam teach lessons and all is good. We had that happen yesterday, girl 10 years old we started to teach last night, tried to get her to be baptized this Saturday too with the other girl basically the same age, but the dad is gonna be busy, so it'll probably be next week. We pushed for this Saturday because it's the last opportunity that Jarquin has to be a part of baptisms cuz he's leaving after that! But we're still pretty set for the baptism this Saturday.
Oh another thing I want to touch on is the members and how much they love missionaries. We can pretty much just walk up to a member at church on Sunday if we don't have lunch and ask if we can come over and they're all for it. Seriously, like forcing ourselves upon them and it's always good. Literally I said yesterday "Hermana, no tenemos comida ahorita, ¿podemos almorzar a su casa a las 2?". And she said sure and we went and the food was delicious and she barely had any notice of us coming.
Speaking of food, we got to make our own food for the first time the other day, a thing called baleados, they were pretty dang good. Cheap go-to food when we have to make our own food. Essentially a taco, with beans, eggs, and creme. That's what we had. But Jarquin says they're way better with avocados, pretty awesome, I took pictures!
Oh, I want to wish my lovely sister Sarah HAPPY BIRTHDAY! woot, the big 21, thats so sweet ;)
This week is gonna be interesting, with this transfer gonna be ending and all, and getting a new companion. What else can I talk about? Oh! People screaming gringo at me haha, it's pretty ridiculous. I have almost every single person stare at me throughout the day. Glad I'm not self conscious. And anyone that knows like a tiny bit of English or thinks I don't understand Spanish, tries to talk to me with the English they know, pretty hilarious. Then I spout off Spanish back at them answering their questions in English at me haha.
Spanish is good, I just need to be more confident with it when we contact, cuz I feel like I don't know what to say when we try to talk to new people. But that's all a learning process for sure.
Elder Russell M. Nelson comes this week, woot! Found out that we're having it in the chapel in the temple which should be pretty awesome. Over 100 elders and sisters there.
One last point of interent, my farmer's tan has officially begun, woo! It's gonna be scary bad when I come back, I'll never step foot at the beach, haha.
Love you all, thank you for the letters and love you're sending my way. I pray for you all everyday. Funny scripture of the week: 1 Corinthians 13:11. Talks about adults still acting like kida haha, learn from it people! :P
Love you
