Haha, that's how I would describe the Book of Mormon too. That's what my convert told me yesterday. We had a baptism this past week! I am most proud about this one, my best convert story I've had in the mission. He's the guy I talked about last week in my email, Julian, or Chacho as we all call him. I have seen so many miracles in these past 6 weeks, but especially in the last 2 days. Seeing that guy put on a white shirt, white tie, white pants, and walk into the water just filled me with the Spirit and so much joy. As Bishop Romero once taught me, there's a difference between happiness, pleasure and joy. What I felt yesterday and Saturday was pure joy, something that one can only feel when they help others to know the Gospel and help them to be baptized and make important decisions in their lives. My comp told me yesterday, after seeing that type of thing happen before our eyes, the whole process, because we started teaching this guy together. He wasn't an investigator before I got here either. Seeing the whole story unfold, from point A to point Z, it's really, really rewarding. That guy loves us too. He was always a pretty serious guy and didn't smile a lot, but I have seen him smile so much in the past few days. He was confirmed and received the Priesthood yesterday. As all missionaries have felt, it is something special when the person they baptized is getting confirmed and the person says "y te decimos, recibe el Espíritu Santo" boom, there comes the Spirit. It is a reconfirmation, reaffirmation; don't know which word sounds better, of the fact that we also have received the gift of the Holy Ghost, telling us that we're on the right track and to keep on keepin on :)
That Saturday was a great night, our noche blanca, not as many people got baptized as we had planned and hoped for, but it was quite the turn out, around 75 people showed up to see the baptisms. The baptisms are coming though, that's for certain, I feel it. The Lord is preparing more and more people every day.
Sorry to all you faithful readers but I don't have very much time today and I don't really know what to write. Umm...I made tacos yesterday! Real tacos, I haven't had for over a year and a half now, haha. Thank you Mom for teaching me a long time ago how to make the tortilla shells, because they were delicious.
I had the pleasure of talking to my Mommy yesterday for Mother's Day. I want to give a shout out to all the moms out there that are incredibly important in my life, my Mom, Michelle, Mama T, Grandma Lori, and all the women that deserve to be moms that for one reason or another are unable to be. And to the future moms like my sister that will someday get preggers as well :) I love all you women in my life, and I am "eternally grateful" to quote my favorite movie "Toy Story", haha.
Random little story really fast. There's a baker here that has his panaderia. He's from France, member of the church, endowed and everything. Not sure why he decided to move here to Panama, but here he is. He goes to church in an area called Boquete. I hadn't heard him talk very much, but we started talking with his employee about the church. His accent is so unbelieveably thick, made me laugh. There were certain words that he simply couldn't pronounce in Spanish, just French, like trying to say miembro, it came out really weird. I just kept smiling and it reminded me of movies or when I went to France a million years ago. I wanna travel more.
I'm going off track, talking about traveling. Coming here and seeing the world a bit more has really inspired me to travel and see the world more, and go to our church in all parts of the world, just to strengthen my testimony of how the church is the same in all parts of the world :)
I love you all, I know that the church is true, with all my heart. Never doubt what you already know. We have church every week, once out of 7 days in the week, and we take the Sacrament every week, so frequently, because human beings are stubborn and forgetful and we need that constant reminder of how important our baptismal covenants and other covenants really are to us and to God.
Scripts this week are Luke 10:1-3, talking about how Christ in His primitive church called other 70 men, sound familiar? And Helaman 6:30, letting you know what Satan's responsibility is, he is the Author of ALL sin. Anything bad, comes from him. On that happy note, be aware of his attacks, he's a trained hunter. Love you all, have a really excellent week :)
