BBBBBZZZZHHHHHDDDDRRRGGRGRGGGSGAGAG!!!
Oh, that's the sound of our new blender making me a delicious fresh fruit smoothie every morning for breakfast. The mission office said they wouldn't reimburse us for buying a blender, so we just bought it with our own money, Elder Johnson and I, only 25 bucks, SO worth the money. That's only like 12 bucks a piece for endless banana pineapple smoothies. Ooh wow, you all should've tried the smoothie from last night, goodness, peanut butter, bananas, milk and ice and a bit of cinnamon, wow. :) That is one of the great highlights of this country, relatively cheap fresh fruit, except apples because those all are imported from my comp's beautiful state of Washington and cost a lot more. But things like pineapple; 2 for a dollar, decent size, a pound of bananas for 25 cents, etc, it's awesome. With the change in the money program and the mission not paying sisters in our respective areas to cook us lunch, we are taking to it with a stride and putting our right foot forward and cooking more. I personally enjoy cooking instead, and it turns out to be quite a bit cheaper daily instead of eating out at restaurants or McDonalds crap. Like take yesterday for instance, we made these amazing breakfast burritos with chips and salsa, also really great and we grilled them in the pan, mmmmm :) Mexican food is like 97 million times better than Panamanian food; just saying.
Another grand blessing from this past week was getting a phone, and not just a house phone, oh no, a cell phone baby! Man does that make it so much easier to teach and do missionary work, calling to confirm or cancel things in a matter of seconds from any moment or area during the day. Apparently the company that the mission was using for the phones went out of business, now anyone that needs to get a new phone gets a little red cell phone. It's awesome and weird at the same time, having a cell phone back in my pocket, makes me feel back at home, just more awkward in dress pants. We can call at any time and make sure one of our investigators is going to be home instead of walking a mile to their house and then getting rejected because no one answers the door, haha. We went around fetching investigators on Sunday trying to get people to come to church because it's just so unbelieveably hard to convice people to come to church. I don't understand why it's so hard for these people, there is no logical reason for not making it to church, sorry. Your mom dies? All the more reason to go to church, learn about the Plan of Salvation. Car crash? Material possessions, you need the church as much as the "hombre rico" parable in the Bible, give up everything you own to know the truth of the Gospel. Lots of excuses, none of which acceptable. We walk in to church this past Sunday and instead of piano, it was a member playing clarinet at the microphone for the hymns, even for the Sacrament, thought that was a tad strange and possibly against church policy, pero bueno...que se puede hacer? Johnson is usually the one who plays piano, but I guess him and that guy are going to take turns playing the Sacrament instrument each Sunday, haha, we'll see how that goes.
Our ZLs had planned a baptism this past Saturday, so we went around trying to get all of our investigators to come to the chapel and see it and feel the Spirit and make them understand the simplicity yet necessity of baptism. We got one of our investigators named Maria, a mom, to come with us. The kicker part of it all though is that the woman that was going to be baptized, moved, the DAY before her baptism. Uh...who does that? She was all jazzed about getting baptized and moved to another city at the last second on Friday, so, no baptism unfortunately. We were able to give Maria a tour all around our giant church building though and feel the Spirit as Johnson and I brought her and her daughter into the Sacrament room and he played "I Stand all Amazed" on the piano, cool moment. Too bad she didn't come to church the next day :( But chin up, we're making progress here opening up this area and loving every moment of it.
We went to the temple today for pday and it was such a great experience. I haven't been to the temple in like 8 months; way too long, I was starting to forget what I had covenanted, haha just kidding ;) I love the temple so much, no matter what language it's in. Praying in the Celestial Room and just pouring my heart out in gratitude to my Heavenly Father is something that needs to be experienced as often as possible. Everyone, go to the temple and renew your covenants, God is waiting for you.
I had a great week everyone. Cool that Honduras has an open temple now, that's going to be a great blessing to all those saints there, and will be a great missionary tool as well so that many choice sons and daughters of God come to the knowledge of the true Gospel.
Here we go peeps, your 2 scriptures are Alma 37:37 which says that we are to pray night and day, in all things, when we sleep and when we wake, always giving thanks. Like Max said, get on your knees when you do it, that little bit of humility makes a big difference. Lastly Moroni 7:35-38, have miracles ceased? I testify to all of you right now that, NO, they have not ceased. God is just as real and alert and aware of His children as He always has been. He loves you, even the most lost child of His, you just need to realize it. Listen to how He talks to you, humble yourself and realize that you NEED Him, and that's all there really is to it. Que tengan una semana muy excelente. :)
